Café-Tasse S.A., based in Belgium, is voluntarily recalling its 1.58 oz. Café-Tasse Noir (Dark) Belgian chocolate bar with best before date of “15 SEPT 2013” because it may contain undeclared traces of milk. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
The product in question was distributed in the following states: VA, MA, WA and CA from January 2012 through mid-April 2012 and was sold in retail stores. The lot code affects only a total of 11 cases of 30 bars of this product that were sold by 7 retailers and 1 distributor, all of who have been contacted.
Product involved pertains to the 1.58 oz. (45 gr.) bar with bar code of 54000219 505504 and expiration date of 15-September 2013. It does not affect any other Café-Tasse chocolate bars or sizes. Under the best before date, there is also a lot code with reference: L11303249. An image of the package is below- black paper wrapper over a gold foil.
No illnesses have been reported to date.
The recall was initiated by Café-Tasse in Belgium after it was discovered that product containing milk traces was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of milk traces. All remaining inventory of this item has been destroyed.
Consumers who have purchased the Café-Tasse Noir 1.57 oz. bar with best before date of September 15, 2013 are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
