Core Tip: Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) has issued a warning to consumers and food businesses not to use or sell two direct mail order products labelled, Tempeh Starter Yeast and Super Starter Yeast.
The regulator warned that the products had been recalled in the US due to reported cases of Salmonellosis associated with the consumption of the ingredient Tempeh -, a fermented bean product.

FSANZ cautioned that Salmonellosis could be a serious food borne illness, especially in young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems.

According to the body, the products are distributed internationally by a US-based company IndonesianFoodMart.com to Australia online.

The recall applies to all batches and sizes of the two recalled products, FSANZ said, and the body has advised anyone who has purchased these products to avoid use and discard them.
