Core Tip: The Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) is in the process of amending the Southern Bluefin Tuna Management Plan 1995 to allow for the introduction of new monitoring arrangements for the purse seine sector.
AFMA is also proposing a number of other amendments at the same time to reduce costs and allow for the introduction of undercatch provisions.

The plan amendments will be considered by the Australian Southern Bluefin Tuna Industry Association and Southern Bluefin Tuna Management Advisory Committee before the AFMA Commission will be asked to approve the draft plan amendment for release for public comment. The public comment period will run for period of 30 days.
