In addition, the recall also affects in store produced products containing lettuce such as salads, sandwiches or wraps purchased prior to 19 May 2012 from IGA and Sobeys stores in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Sobeys, Price Chopper, or Foodland stores.
These clerk-served foods contain lettuce which may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
These products have been distributed nationally, except the province of Quebec. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.
Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled. Consumption of food contaminated with these bacteria may cause listeriosis, a foodborne illness, which may lead to high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea.
