Cuisine du Viêt-nam brand products recalled in Canada

Core Tip: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a health hazard alert, warning public not to consume Cuisine du Viêt-nam brand Butterfly Knots Honey & Sesame as the product may be contaminated with Salmonella.
According to CFIA, the affected product - Cuisine du Viêt-nam brand Butterfly Knots Honey & Sesame, is sold in 102g packages bearing UPC 8 59912 00102 1. All lot codes are affected by this alert.

This product has been distributed in Quebec. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

The manufacturer, Les Aliments 2000, based in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Quebec, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace, while the CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.

Consumption of food contaminated with Salmonella may cause salmonellosis, a foodborne illness. Salmonellosis may cause serious and sometimes deadly infections in young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems.

In otherwise healthy people, salmonellosis may cause short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
