Core Tip: The ministry of commerce & industry, Government of India, in a notification issued recently, has effected amendment to the policy on skimmed milk powders by lifting the ban on their exports.
As per the new notification signed by Anup K Pujari, director-general of foreign trade, export of skimmed milk powder, which was prohibited as per Notification No. 23 (RE-2010)/2009-2014 dated 18.02.2011, would now be made free. Consequently entry number 38 would be bifurcated into entry number 38 (revised) and entry number 38.01 (new entry).

While the entry number 38 states exports of milk and cream, concentrated or containing added sugar or other sweetening matter, including whole milk powder, dairy whitener and infant milk foods are prohibited, the new entry makes it clear that export of skimmed milk powder is now free.

The decision to lift the ban on exports was made last month.
