Late Thursday, Senate Agriculture Committee Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) shared a glimpse of that work in a short speech on the floor of the Senate.
"We've actually had some very good progress today and overcome some obstacles," Stabenow said.
The negotiations have trimmed the number of amendments likely to be debated from 250 to below 50 to around 40, she said.
"We will look forward to having the opportunity next week to present something to the body," she said.
