Core Tip: Phoenicia Group has expanded the recall of its Alkanater brand Tahina in Canada. The product is being recalled as it may be contaminated with Salmonella, according to Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
The earlier recall affected the product which was sold in 454g containers, bearing the UPC 6 92551 00002 0, lot code TT3N-280312 and codes PRO: 28/03/2012 and EXP: 28/03/2014. The expanded recall includes lot code TT3N-280312.

According to the agency, the product was distributed in Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick and several other places.

Phoenicia Group is voluntarily recalling the affected products and CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.

However, there are no reported illnesses till date in Canada associated with the consumption of the recalled product, the agency said.
