Griffiths, former head of Young’s Seafood, said: “The role of Seafish has been under review for two years, and that is now clearer, they are taking a bigger role in developing the seafood cluster, both here in Grimsby and across the UK.
“The Humber Seafood Institute has been built, we have the Humber Seafood Summit, and we have 500 new jobs created in the seafood cluster in recent weeks, so I feel I am leaving on a positive.”
Barker takes over from Wynne Griffiths, who held the role for five years, with immediate effect.
