Core Tip: WG Buchanan & Son is recalling Buchanan's Desiccated Coconut in the UK, as the product contains sulphites/sulphur dioxide, which is not mentioned on the label, according to the UK Food Standards Agency (FSA).
The product affected by this recall is Buchanan's Desiccated Coconut, 170g, with a best before date of June 2013.

Initially, the product was distributed only in Northern Ireland. Further investigation found that the product has also been supplied to a few premises on the UK mainland.

The Agency has issued a UK-wide allergy alert, and has advised consumers allergic to or intolerant of sulphites/sulphur dioxide to not eat this product.

WG Buchanan is withdrawing all the affected stock. The company will also display customer notices in stores, explaining the reason behind the recall.

Consumers can return the affected product to the store for a full refund. No other Buchanan's products are known to be affected.
