Core Tip: Royal DSM has completed its acquisition of Ocean Nutrition Canada, a Dartmouth, N.S.-based global provider of fish-oil-derived nutritional products to the dietary supplement and food and beverage markets, DSDM said July 19.
The acquisition, first announced on May 18, was for a total enterprise value of C$540 million. DSM expects it to be earnings-per-share accretive from 2013 onwards.

Ocean Nutrition Canada is a provider of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), two forms of omega-3 fatty acids derived from fish, through the company’s Meg-3 product line.

“Having completed the acquisition in a time frame of only two months, we are very pleased to welcome all employees of Ocean Nutrition Canada to DSM today, and I look forward to developing this exciting opportunity together,” said Leendert Staal, president and chief executive officer of DSM Nutritional Products. “Our attention is now fully focused on ensuring a smooth integration of the business in a timely and efficient manner.”
