Core Tip: Power outages caused by overnight storms in Wilkes County, NC, temporarily disrupted operations at a Tyson Foods poultry plant in Wilkesboro.
A severe thunderstorm caused more than 300 power outages and knocked down trees, according to local news reports. Tyson Foods changed some its shifts for workers as a result of the outages.

"Electricity was temporarily disrupted at our Wilkesboro, NC, poultry processing plant due to a severe thunderstorm overnight," said Worth Sparkman, a Tyson Foods spokesman. "Because the plant receives power from multiple sources, only evisceration operations were affected during the third shift. Operations resumed this morning."
