Grey Eagle Distributors has agreed to buy fellow Anheuser-Busch InBevwholesaler Illinois Distribution Co.
The deal is subject to approval from A-B InBev, which is expected by the end of the year, Grey Eagle said yesterday (6 September). No financial details have been disclosed.
The takeover will increase St Louis-based Grey Eagle's beer sales from 7m cases to 9.6m a year, making it one of the the largest distributors in the Midwest and one of the larger A-B Inbev distributors in the country, it said.
Illinois Distributing said “most of” its 85 staff will retain their jobs. Grey Eagle will keep Illinois Distribution's operations in Belleville.
Grey Eagle distributes Purus vodka, a brand sold off by A-B during its InBev takeover and relaunched by Pure Holdings in April last year.
