Exports of food and beverages from the European Union to China grew by 51% during the first six months of 2012, compared to the corresponding period last year, the bloc reported yesterday.
Shipments to the country were worth €1.96bn over the period, compared to €1.3bn over the January to June period last year.
Food and drink imports from China totalled €2.12bn, down 4.9% from last year, leaving a trade deficit of €152mn. That compares with a deficit of €926mn in the first half of 2011, the EU said.
