Galactic continues its strategic expansion with the recent acquisition of Eurobiotec, a platform for innovation in biotechnology. Situated at the Erasmus industrial and scientific park in Brussels, which belongs to the SDRB (Society for the Development of the Brussels-Capital Region), the Eurobiotec building will become a new R&D centre for Galactic.
“This acquisition will enable us to boost our research efforts in the field of fermentation” says Frédéric Van Gansberghe, Managing Director of Galactic. “The centre is ideally located in a top-quality scientific environment and specialises in fermentation technologies”.
Jean-Christophe Bogaert, Sales, Marketing & Business Development Director, adds: “Our teams already have significant know-how in the field of industrial fermentation including all aspects of genetics, microbiology, bioengineering and down-stream processes. The acquisition of this 4000m2 fully-equipped centre will position Galactic as a European leader in the field of biotechnology. Though the production of lactic acid remains our core business, we now have an excellent opportunity to increase our research efforts in the development of new molecules and natural solutions for our business activities in the food, industry, pharmaceutical and cosmetic sectors".
Since 1994, Galactic is a leading producer of lactic acid and lactates serving the Food, Feed, Cosmetic, Pharmaceutical and Industrial markets.
