South Yorkshire-based specialist tea company Vitalife has developed a powdered version of South American tea Yerba Mate.
Powdered Yerba Mate from Vitalife forms part of a 'limited edition' range of 'matcha' powdered green teas that the company launched on its website recently.
Managing director Gavin Edley said: "Yerba Mate has been around since the 16th Century, and with other teas being available in powdered form - like our popular matcha green tea - I was really surprised to find that nobody had tried to create a powdered version of Yerba before."
Vitalife plans to carry out further research on the tea to show how drinking it in its powdered form further enhances positive effects.
Kenya Ivory is another limited edition matcha the company has launched alongside Yerba Mate.
Made from white tea sourced from high-altitude farms in Kenya, the tea is said to contain more antioxidants than their standard matcha green tea range.
