Wolfberger, a France-based co-operative winery that produces the Willm brand, has acquired the Lucien Albrecht brand for €1.2m.
The purchase includes five hectares of vines, the brand and six of Domaine Albrecht's 13 employees, besides Albrecht's stocks worth €150,000. The sale does not include equipments and production facilities.
Other contender for the purchase was Grands Chais de France, whose offer was turned down by the district court in Colmar.
In September 2012, Domaine Lucien Albrecht went into receivership and was reeling under a debt of €9m. It received €500,000 from the sale of brand and €700,000 from vineyards.
Wolfberger export director Eric Alonso told Decanter.com that the company has already contacted Albrecht's overseas partners and assured them of producing Albrecht wines at its winery in Eguisheim.
"We will try to maintain all of the markets that Albrecht currently has and will hopefully develop some new ones," Alonso added.
