The medFEL 2013 event will take place on 22nd-24th April in Perpignan, France. This year's event will focus on Egypt and on citrus fruits. In addition to these areas, many other items will be on the agenda, which will cover the following:
• The place of fruit and vegetables in the 2014-2020 CAP
• Management of water resources
• Transport and logistics of fresh fruit and vegetable produce
• Organic industry watchdog
• The strategic importance of citrus fruitquality indicators for countries on both shores of the Mediterranean
• Fruit and vegetables in the food service industry
• Innovation: a success story
• Summer 2013 European fruit harvest forecasts for peaches and nectarines, melons and apricots
The event will open with a conference on the effects of the Euro Crisis and the Arab Spring on the production of foods in the Mediterranean. In addition to this a wide range of other subject will be covered, including changes in the fresh tomato sector; food safety; future trade agreements between the EU and Morocco and production of organic vegetables popular in Mediterranean dishes.
A new feature at this year's event will be a contest for the publicity, which offers entrants the chance to win prizes such as a free stand at the exhibition, an advertising insert, an audit by a communications agency and an advert in the MedFEL catalogue.
