Dairy exports from the EU could increase by as much as a third over the next decade, according to the EU’s outlook to 2022.
Milk and dairy exports are expected to benefit from strong international demand fuelled by a growing global population and changing consumer tastes. The EU believes that export demand will sustain commodity prices despite the end of the milk quota which will come into effect in 2015.
Demand for European cheese in markets such as the US, Russia and Middle East is forecast to drive export growth of more than a third by 2022. Overseas sales of skimmed milk powder could increase by 30% led by demand from markets such as Algeria, China and the Middle East, the EU said.
