The problem was identified after Gwaltney Foods received complaints from two customers.

Recalled products include 1lb chubs of Gwaltney mild pork sausage roll with a UPC code 785331755538 and use-by date of 12 March 2013; and cases containing chubs of Gwaltney mild pork sausage roll with a case code of 78533109741 and lot number 3011.

The products being recalled were produced on 11 January, and were distributed in areas that include Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas.

Classified as Class II, the recall indicates a health hazard situation where there is a remote probability of adverse health consequences from the consumption of the product.

The FSIS and Gwaltney Foods have received no reports of adverse reactions associated with the consumption of these products.

However, the agency has advised consumers concerned about an injury or illness to contact a healthcare provider.

Headquartered in Smithfield, Virginia, Gwaltney Foods, a subsidiary of Smithfield Foods, manufactures and supplies pork products to the retail and foodservice markets in the US.
