Axfood recalls Eldorado frozen meatballs 1000 g with best before date 12/2-2014 or earlier, Eldorado fresh meatballs 1000 g with best before date 8/3-2013 or earlier, Garant frozen meatballs 600 g with best before 12/2 -2014 or earlier and Garant fresh meatballs 350 g with a best before date 8/3-2013 or earlier. The reason for the withdrawal is that the parts of the parties found to contain between one and five percent horsemeat.

Horse meat has been discovered at Axfood's own analysis of the product. After February 12, the control tightened the supplier. Several tests of meatballs made after this date have been made without the horse meat demonstrated.

To eat the recalled meatballs is not a health hazard. However, it is important that the content of a product complies with the contents. Many consumers also feel bad about eating horse meat.
