Carla’s Pasta, Inc., a maker of frozen pasta and pesto, is expected to receive a 10-year, $4 million loan from the state of Connecticut to help expand the company’s production capacity and add nearly 100 jobs, said Governor Dannel P. Malloy of Connecticut.

The loan would be part of a $26 million expansion plan under way at Carla’s that includes the construction of a 27,000-square-foot addition to the company’s existing 57,000-square-foot manufacturing facility. The loan also will be used to purchase high-speed, state-of-the-art packaging equipment and additional pasta making machines.

“Carla’s Pasta is a great example of how Connecticut’s many economic development programs and services can help businesses expand and create jobs,” Mr. Malloy said. “I visited Carla’s Pasta just a few months ago to highlight the innovative steps they took to increase energy efficiency and reduce consumption. Working as a partner with our business community, we can make sure that Connecticut businesses can do what we need them to do — create good paying jobs with good benefits for our residents.”

Founded in 1987 by Carla Squatrito, Carla’s Pasta has more than 115 employees and distributes its products throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico.
