The iPhone maker is getting ready to crank up production on its next iPhone, according to a report. The device would be available for a possible summer launch, according to the report in The Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the device's production.
Apple shares rose $1.65 at $430.56 in midday trading.
Apple's next iPhone is expected to be similar in form. Also, Apple is working with manufacturers on a lower-priced iPhone that could be released in the second half of the year, according to The Journal. That unit would likely use a different casing from the current iPhone line.
Apple declined comment on the Journal report.
