The Government of Andhra Pradesh has urged the Central government to expedite the proposed setting up of mega food park in Nandipet, Nizamabad district. The project has been on ministry of food processing industries’ (MoFPI) waiting list since last year.
Chief minister of Andhra Pradesh N Kiran Kumar Reddy took up the issue with the Union agriculture and food processing minister Sharad Pawar during a meeting with the latter in Hyderabad recently.
Reddy reminded Pawar that the state government had been proactively pursuing the project and had even provided 370 acre of land in Nandipet mandal with the intention of developing the economically-backward Telangana region.
“The Centre had given the project its nod about a year ago but put it on hold,” Reddy told Pawar. He added that the project was proposed by Smart Agro Industries Corporation Pvt. Ltd. The company is promoted by Pailla Malla Reddy, an industrialist from Telanagana, who lives in USA.
