Domega NY International Co., Ltd. at 47-57 Bridgewater Street Brooklyn New York 11222 is recalling “S” brand Sweet Potato because they contain undeclared sulfites. People who have severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.

The recalled “S” brand Sweet Potato comes in a 17.60oz (500gram) un-coded, clear plastic bag with a red & yellow label. The UPC code is 7345300616. It is a product of China. The product was sold in New York City.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in packages of “S” brand Sweet Potato which did not declare sulfites on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics.

Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites.
