Sbarro, a chain of pizza restaurants that specializes in New York style pizza and other Italian-American cuisine, plans to expand its overseas presence by opening 20 new eateries in Ontario, Canada, through franchise route.
The move follows latest in a series of franchise agreements that have recently expanded Sbarro's presence across Europe, the Middle East, South America, Asia and the Pacific.
The chain had partnered with master franchisor Youssef Hassoun, the owner of Hassoun Enterprises, to develop and operate Sbarro eateries exclusively in Ontario
Under the plan, Hassoun will open three Sbarro eateries at Rouge Valley Centenary Hospital in Scarborough Ontario; Hunt Club in Ottawa; and Simon Premium Outlet Center in Toronto by the end of August 2013.
The company currently operates more than 1,000 eateries across 40 countries with more than 400 of those restaurants located outside US.
