Univar Inc., a leading distributor of Food Ingredients announced today that it will be showcasing a new twist on old fashioned concepts of milk and cookies at the IFT Annual Meeting and Food Expo, July 13-16 at McCormick Place South in Chicago, Illinois.

Also featured will be the newly-developed interactive formulation tool designed to help manufacturers and food formulators choose ingredients and develop new products with ease and efficiency. The global ingredient distributor will showcase healthy reduction and other innovations with cookie and milk formulations and will demonstrate the new interactive formulation tool.

Univar, in partnership with CP Kelco, will be onsite demonstrating the latest in healthy reduction and fortification for indulgent treats. At booth #316, IFT attendees can sample nutrient-fortified Refreshing and Delicious Almond Milk and freshly-baked Sweet Cinnsation Cookies. Both products taste sweet, but have reduced sugar and sodium. The hottest trend in milk alternatives, the almond milk uses various hydrocolloids that provide a smooth and creamy texture while uniformly suspending calcium to deliver as much as traditional dairy milk.

The Sweet Cinnsation Cookie has nearly 50 percent less sodium and 25 percent less sugar than the average cookie and features added nutrition, as well. The cookie is fortified with fiber and contains all natural antioxidants. Along with the Sweet Cinnsation Cookie, a decadent gluten-free cookie will also be available to taste that features the performance of xanthan gum. Together, the cookies and milk represent exciting new innovations in healthy and indulgent snacks.

"We're thrilled to partner with leading supplier CP Kelco to develop these innovative healthy reduction products," said Univar's Director of Food Ingredients Rick Richard. "Through supplier/distributor collaboration, we are able to develop innovative healthier products while maintaining the indulgent sweetness and mouthfeel that consumers expect."

"We are really excited about the products we've created through our collaborative partnership with Univar," said Director of Marketing Americas for CP Kelco Henri Monty. "Univar's technical expertise in food formulation, combined with our expertise in texture modification and our unique stabilization ingredients, has enabled us to create a fun twist on milk and cookies while showcasing some of newest consumer trends this year."

Also during the show, Univar will unveil its new interactive formulation tool for selecting ingredients. The tool enables customers to search for new ingredients and provides resources on health and wellness, product enhancement and process improvement. From lower sodium and fat, to sugar alternatives and stabilizers for texture enhancement, the searchable tool features dozens of ingredients from well-known suppliers, making it a one-stop-shop for finding new ingredients.

The Univar tool enables food developers and manufacturers to compare attributes of dozens of ingredient options in one quick search. It allows suppliers a new and exciting venue to promote current ingredients and launch new ones. Univar technical ingredient specialists will be on hand to showcase the tool and help customers sign up for an exclusive login to develop their own unique products, like the Sweet Cinnsation Cookie and Refreshing and Delicious Almond Milk.
