As part of its efforts to grow its agri-food safety and quality services in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, Silliker Inc., a subsidiary of Mérieux NutriSciences, has named Jim Miller president of its North American operations. In this position, he will operate out of the company’s headquarters in Chicago, and report directly to Philippe Sans, president and chief executive officer of Mérieux NutriSciences.

Prior to joining Silliker, Miller served for over 22 years in various roles for Tate and Lyle. He most recently acted as vice president of Global Product Management of Specialty Food Ingredients, overseeing Tate and Lyle’s global specialty food starch business with production sites in North America and Europe.

“Continuing to grow our leadership in North America, Jim brings to Silliker a vast understanding of sales, marketing and product management from within the food industry itself,” remarked Sans. “Throughout his career, he has repeatedly demonstrated the ability to understand client needs and forge innovative solutions. Jim is the ideal choice to guide our North American operations and to continue to develop our leadership position in this highly competitive market.”

“For someone who has spent his entire career in the food industry, joining an organization with the reputation and expertise of Silliker is an honor and an opportunity,” Miller said. “I am looking forward to working with our leadership team and associates to provide Silliker clients with the best possible scientific and customer services industry-wide.”

Upon graduating from the University of Illinois-Champaign in 1991 with a BA in Agriculture Economics, Miller joined Tate & Lyle Ingredíents Amerícas as a sales marketing assistant. He progressed within the organization to hold a number of marketing and sales roles with regional and global scope. Miller served on the Global Strategy Committee of the Institute of Food Technologists.
