Fiona Kendrick, Nestlé UK CEO, has been appointed as one of five new commissioners for the UK Commission for Employment and Skills. Skills minister Matthew Hancock said: “These five new commissioners are leaders in their fields and have a broad knowledge of a variety of sectors. They will encourage industry to support the skills to build a workforce for the modern economy.”
Kendrick’s appointment comes after her role in developing skills within the food industry. She played an integral role in supporting Sheffield Hallam’s food engineering degree, the first of its kind in the UK, as well as developing the Nestlé Academy Fast Start programme.
In her role, Kendrick will be working to aid young people in developing skills and creating employment opportunities. Kendrick will also be working closely with employers to ensure the skills being promoted are relevant to modern industry.
Minister for employment Mark Hoban said: “It is great to see these five experts joining the Commission. They cover a wide area of experience with their varied backgrounds, and I know they will use this to work closely with employers, advocating new opportunities and skills development in businesses.”
