The GlobalG.A.P. aquaculture certification has reached India for the first time with a seafood farming company there, GlobalG.A.P. said in a release.
The aquaculture group did not name the firm, but indicated that the new certification marks the first time a company in India has sought and received the certification.
“With the first GlobalG.A.P. certified aquaculture producer in India, the country joins a worldwide network of producers committed to good aquaculture practices through the GlobalG.A.P. Aquaculture Standard,” GlobalG.A.P. said in a statement.
The standards cover the entire breeding, harvesting and processing procedure. Certified companies have proven their ability to produce food safely with minimal environmental impact, compliance with safety and animal welfare standards, among other sustainability requirements.
