The Canadian Food Inspection Agency updated a public warning to include additional ground beef products being recalled on concerns the products may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.

An investigation into a recent outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 infections prompted a recall of Compliments brand Super 8 Beef Burgers manufactured by Belmont Meats. The recall was expanded to include President's Choice and Webers Bucket of Burgers brand hamburgers. The President's Choice burgers were sold nationally at Loblaws banner stores, while the Webers burgers also were distributed nationally.

The Ontario health ministry reported six confirmed cases associated with the recall. Four people were hospitalized, but all are recovering, according to news reports.

Toronto-based Belmont Meats is a beef processor and supplier to retail and foodservice operations. The company counts Applebee's and Sysco among its customers. The company runs a 60,000-sq.-ft. facility and employs 180 workers.
