Meadow Foods, a UK-based dairy ingredients supplier, has commenced expansion project at its milk processing and butter production facilities in Chester, England.
The expansion involves demolition of old buildings and an extension to the company's offices, new changing facilities, canteen and First Aid room.
Meadow Foods will also establish a new staff car park and a truck park with refueling and washing facilities for delivery vehicles.
Following realization of the project, the company will have an additional 5,500m² of processing and storage facilities.
Meadow Foods executive chairman Simon Chantler said, "We are delighted to have started work on developing our Chester site. The work, which will be undertaken in two phases, will allow us to grow our operations and diversify our business lines."
"It's also good news for the local area as it provides an even bigger outlet for local dairy farmers by increasing our manufacturing capabilities," Chantler added.
Established in 1992, the company operates from facilities in Chester, Peterborough and Holme-on-Spalding Moor offering products, including cream, butter, sweetened condensed milk, anhydrous milk fat, chocolate crumb and cultured products.
It has a turnover in excess of £340m and workforce of more than 250.
