A Sri Lankan court on Tuesday banned the sale of Coca Cola in the country for three months for not following regulations, local media reported.
Kebetigollawa Magistrate issued an order suspending the production and sale of the carbonated drink, Coca Cola in Sri Lanka, for a period of three-month, local media outlet The Sunday Times reported.
The Court order was issued to Pure Beverages (Pvt) Ltd., Biyagama, after the company was found distributing for sale, a bottle of Coca Cola, which did not mention the date of production or expiry, or the batch number as required by local law.
Under the Court ruling, the license of the company to engage in production, storing, distributing and sale of the beverage in the country, has been suspended for three months.
The Magistrate has issued the suspension order in accordance with Article 18 (2) of the Food Act No. 26 of 1980, the report added.
Coca-Cola, the world's largest carbonated drinks-maker, operates a bottling plant in Sri Lanka under the company Pure Beverages.
