A Woolworths customer was confronted with a rude awakening last night when he found maggots inside a pre-cooked chicken that he purchased for dinner.
Jason Croom allegedly bought the chicken from the supermarket giant’s Sale store in Victoria earlier that day and subsequently posted his ordeal on the company’s facebook page.
"I had maggots in my mouth," Croom posted.
"Then I swallowed them which is how I realised what had happened, because one was crawling around my lip."
Immediately following the incident, Croom said that he contacted the store and was instructed to “put (the chicken) in the freezer and wait for a call next week".
The supermarket promptly replied to Croom’s facebook post stating that they take such issues "very seriously", and would be in contact shortly.
