Blaine Sullivan, Chief Operating Officer of Ocean Choice International, said the company is extremely pleased with the re-opening of its Fortune facility today.
It was about one year ago that the Company and the Provincial Government reached agreements on flatfish and redfish.
Sullivan noted that the company has met all of its commitment under the agreement and has invested more than $1.5 million in advanced technology and innovative processing at its Fortune facility. In addition, the Company has also purchased a new fishing vessel "Ocean Breaker" as part of its commitment to the success of the flatfish and redfish business. The company has also leased a cod long line vessel to deliver high quality cod for processing at Fortune.
"Today is one step in our strategic plan to turnaround the flatfish business in Newfoundland and Labrador," said Sullivan. We are excited about the prospects for this business and we look forward to continued cooperation with the provincial Government, our employees and the people of Fortune to make this business successful and sustainable for the future.
