Finnish food group HKScan Oyj has agreed to sell its 49% stake in the Swedish meat business Nyhléns & Hugosons Chark for a reported €2.2 million.
Alviksgården Lantbruks, a separate Swedish meat processor, will pay HKScan the €2.2 million fee in cash.
Reuters said that the transaction caused an asset impairment of €2.1 million which will be reported as a non-recurring cost in the fourth quarter of 2013.
Nyhléns & Hugosons Chark's net sales are approximately €50 million and it employs 230 people across plants in Luleå, Alvik, Skellefteå
and Ullånger.
HKScan aims is to streamline its business structure in Sweden by reducing all costs where possible and focussing efforts on its leading regional brands, like the Scan brand.
