Third-party certification body SCS Global Services is now accredited to conduct assessments under the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) standard for farmed salmon, according to SCS.
The body has been conducting pre-assessments under the ASC since 2012, but earned the accreditation after finishing the assessment of Tassal Operations in Australia earlier this month. The accreditation allows SCS to conduct full assessments on behalf of the ASC.
"Innovative retailers around the world are specifying ASC certified farmed fish in increasing numbers, signaling a growing awareness of the fragility of ocean systems and marine food chains. said Robert J. Hrubes, SCS Executive VP. “SCS is proud to be a part of this important effort."
