Soyabean spot basis bids edged lower at processors around the US Midwest region on Tuesday, while corn bids held mostly steady in quiet trade, dealer said. US soyabean futures firmed on Tuesday on support from positioning ahead of a monthly US Department of Agriculture supply and demand report that is expected to show a further tightening of the soya balance sheet, traders said. Farmers have been reluctant to sell what remains of old-crop soyabeans in recent days as most cash market prices were below their price target range of $15 per bushel.
