Fonterra Australia has announced it is opening a $6m ricotta plant to help meet the ongoing domestic demand for ricotta. The plant will be located at its Stanhope site in northern Victoria.
The site will produce the company’s Perfect Italiano ricotta brand, which is the leading brand of ricotta in Australia. The project was supported by a $250,000 grant for the Victorian Government’s Industries for Today and Tomorrow program.
The Stanhope plant also produces a range of Fonterra’s cheese products for both domestic and export markets. The plant uses 340m litres of milk each year from around 260 suppliers in the area.
