Kraft Heinz is voluntarily recalling 36,000 cases of Kraft Singles after consumption of these products choked three people, according to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
FDA found that the choking was caused by a thin strip of the individual packaging film that stuck to the slice even after the wrapper has been removed.
The products associated with the recall include 3lb Kraft Singles American and White American with UPC codes 0 2100060491 3 and 0 2100061582 7 respectively, as well as 4lb sizes of Kraft Singles American and White American carrying UPC code 0 2100063360 9 and 0 2100063448 4 respectively.
The pasteurized prepared cheese product with a Best When Used By Date of 29 December 2015 through 04 January 2016 features manufacturing codes S54 or S55, which refer to the two production lines on which the affected product was made.
Kraft Heinz supplied these products to retailers in the US, Puerto Rico and Grand Cayman.
No other sizes, varieties or code dates are included in this recall.
Customers who have bought the recalled products are advised not to consume and instead return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
