The high quality and productive Red Globe grape variety, has become a favourite in Manisa’s Alasehir district. Alasehir growers prefer the Red Globe variety which is native to Italy, because of its high growing, great quality and increased yields. The Red Globe variety is twice as productive as the local Sultaniye grape, as producer Adem Ozel says, “The Red Globe is the world’s most quality grape variety, pinkish in colour, it is a grape variety which is pleasing and alluring. The bunches weigh between 1 and 1.5 kilos. It can grow in any climate, at altitudes of 1500-1600."

The Red Globe variety was planted in the Alasehir’s Baklaci neighbourhood fields in the year 2000 and collection of the product began 3 years later, on 5 decares of land, 50-60 tons was harvested. By high wire growing and occupying less land, the grape provides high yields and is labour efficient, stresses Adem Ozel, “This year we are finding buyers for the grape at between €0.54-0.69. Depending on the climate and district, the harvest starts in the second half of August and lasts until the end of October. Growers starting on new vineyards in particular, opt for this grape variety.”
