Greece strongly dominates Bulgaria's imported fruit market, covering 43% of all imports in 2014, followed by Turkey, with 15%. According to data from Eurostat for the period between 2011 and 2014, Bulgaria's main fruit suppliers are Greece, Turkey, Ecuador, the Netherlands, Macedonia and Germany. For vegetables, Greece and Turkey are also the main suppliers, with approximately the same share (19% of total imports), followed by Macedonia (6.5%). Germany, the Netherlands and China also supply some small volumes.
The most demanded Greek fruits are oranges, mandarins and kiwis, for which Greek exports account for 72-82% of all Bulgarian imports. The main countries exporting oranges are Greece, Turkey, the Netherlands, Germany and South Africa. The main mandarin exporters are Greece, Turkey and Italy. In 2014, 82% of all kiwifruits marketed in Bulgaria came from Greece.
