The four seasons honey longan fruit, cultivated in Deqing Guangdong, entered the market in the winter and has become the new star on the Chinese fruit market. Its selling price is two or three times higher than in the summer. Liu Zaidian, general manager of the local farmers base, said that currently there are 15 hectares (230 mu) of hillside orchards with more than 3,000 strains of longan trees. This year's harvest surpassed 10 million kilo.

Longan trees are evergreen trees that bloom during the spring and bear fruit in the summer. An agricultural expert said that the longan tree grows only in a specific environment. Usually mild subtropical climates without severe frosts are suitable. The harvest period is around July every year.

Liu Zaidian in Deqing is the general manager of the Modern Agricultural Development Cooperation and the four seasons honey longan fruit cultivation base. He said: "The company's first generation of four seasons honey longan fruit tree species came from Brazil and Xishuangbanna, but this does not change the original longan tree gene."

According to the company's chairman Zheng Ruoshan, the longan trees of this base can bear fruit several times during the four seasons. After the trees were planted in its natural environment, farmers carried out adjustments during the harvest seasons. After 2 - 3 years the output of the trees was stabilized. The success of four seasons honey longan fruit leads to new development opportunities for local farmers.
