Healthy snack brand Bear has launched a new line-up of fruit and vegetable combinations known as Bear Claws, intended for children aged between four and nine.
The range is designed to entertain children and engage them with their food. Free from artificial ingredients, Bear Claws are packaged in packs of five bags and each provide one of the five recommended daily portions of fruit and vegetables. They are available in four different flavour combinations: mango and carrot; blackcurrant and beetroot; apple, pear and pumpkin; and strawberry and butternut.
The new line-up features graphics created by B&B Studios and is packaged in cartons from print and packaging company Qualvis. Every pack of Claws includes a variety of monster body shapes based on four unique characters – complete with eyes, tails, horns and spikes so that kids can build their own monsters.
The boxes also include reversed panel orientations to accommodate feature monster feet with “funky toes” that protrude from the box. The addition of stand-out feet increases on-shelf standout by making it seem as though the characters are sitting on the supermarket shelf, which Qualvis said would help to entertain and entice children to the brand.
As an important supply chain consideration, the feet have been designed to back fold flat so the packs can be packed into an outer pack without damage. In addition, the packs can be filled using a high speed automated packing line, ensuring that the design does not compromise the commercial aspect of the range.
Qualvis technical director Richard Pacey said: “This project was a lot of fun to work on and we are delighted with the result. The funky design creates maximum consumer engagement and end-user interaction, whilst being fully optimised for packaging supply chain efficiency.”
