Corbion Purac has expanded its Verdad Avanta line of ingredients with the launch of Verdad Avanta C100, a powder formulation that can offer Listeria control from 90 to 120 days.
This formulation, which uses vinegar and celery powder, also widens the shelf life for natural uncured meats. The Verdad Avanta line is based on a specuially formulated blend of natural ingredients and is supported by the Corbion Listeria control model.
Claimed to be a multifunctional solution, Verdad Avanta C100 offers meat and poultry processors Listeria control, typical cured meat colour, convenience, yield improvement and purge control, while delivering great taste and cleaner labels that consumers want from processors.
Corbion Purac senior business development manager Tom Rourke said: "With Verdad Avanta C100, our customers can provide uncured deli meats, hotdogs, bologna and sausages that taste great and stay fresh longer with ingredient labels consumers understand.
"The labelling requirements for Verdad Avanta C100 are vinegar and celery powder, natural ingredients that consumers appreciate."
Corbion Purac's Verdad line of clean label solutions also comprises Verdad Avanta F100 and Verdad Avanta Y100.
Verdad Avanta F100 is ideal for fresh ground meats and extends shelf life up to ten days with a strong inhibitory effect against Salmonella spp in fresh chicken sausages.
Verdad Avanta Y100 extends freshness of ready-to-eat meats, and provides more than 120 days of Listeria control and enhances cook yield from 4% to 10% based on the application.
In October, the company introduced GEM 100, a dough improver for yeast-leavened dough formulas. It can be used to reduce gluten in a range of food, including hamburger buns and artisan breads, filled with whole grains, fibre, fruits, seeds and nuts.
