Nordic Sugar is now investing an additional SEK 190 million in its Swedish operations by building a new sugar silo at the factory in Örtofta.
Combined with the factory's recently completed investments of more than SEK 200 million to reduce energy consumption by 30%, this means the company has invested around SEK 400 million in future-oriented strategic projects at the Örtofta factory over the course of three to four years.
The sugar silo, which has storage capacity of up to 80,000 tonnes, provides the conditions for improved efficiency in production, energy consumption and logistics. This will have significant positive impact on competitiveness in the future, to the benefit of the Swedish sugar industry.
"The new silo will be an essential contribution to future competitiveness. As a result, the Swedish sugar industry will be even more robustly equipped to meet the challenges of the future," says Bengt Högberg, Managing Director of Nordic Sugar AB.
