Core Tip: The recall comes at a time when its sales in the US are getting negatively impacted due to stronger value of Swiss Francs.
Nestle USA has initiated a voluntary recall of about three million packages of Lean Cuisine, DiGiorno pizza and Stouffer's frozen dinners, as the spinach used in these products may contain glass pieces.

The US unit of the Switzerland-based firm has begun an internal investigation.

It initiated the recall following consumer complaints over finding glass pieces in these products. However, so far no injuries have been reported.

The voluntary recall includes limited numbers of DiGiorno pizzas; Lean Cuisine pizzas, paninis and raviolis; and Stouffer's lasagnas and soufflés.

Nestle stated that it is working with US Food & Drug Administration and the Department of Agriculture on the voluntary recall.

The impacted products include DiGiorno Thin & Crispy Spinach and Garlic Pizza; DiGiorno Rising Crust Spinach and Mushroom Pizza; DiGiorno pizzeria Thin Crust Spinach and Mushroom Pizza; DiGiorno pizzeria Tuscan-style Chicken Pizza; Lean Cuisine Spinach and Mushroom Pizza.

The products also include Lean Cuisine Spinach Artichoke Ravioli; Lean Cuisine Ricotta and Spinach Ravioli; Lean Cuisine Spinach, Artichoke and Chicken Panini; Lean Cuisine Mushroom Mezzaluna Ravioli; Stouffer's Vegetable Lasagne; Stouffer's Spinach Soufflé; and Stouffer's Chicken Lasagna.

Even though these products have been manufactured in facilities around the country, the source of the spinach is the same, the company stated.

The recall comes at a time when its sales in the US are getting negatively impacted due to stronger value of Swiss Francs, which inturn lead makes exports pricier and wipes out revenues from international markets when it is converted back into home currency, reported The Wall Street Journal.

Earlier this week, Constellation Brands also issued a recall in the US and Guam of Corona Extra beer over concerns that they may contain bits of glass.
