In February, the fruit prices in Xiamen City declined. In Zhongpu fruit wholesale market, the monthly sales volume reached 8,540 tons, an increase of 3%. In comparison, the fruit wholesale price on average is 6.05 Yuan per kilo, a decrease of 12% when compared with the same period of last year.
As this year the Chinese spring festival took place in February, the market consumption is overall higher than average, but this year adequate market supply and cold weather resulted in fruit prices declining. A higher decline can be expected if the February fruit sales are lower than forecast. A major characteristic of this year's fruit market is that the premium fruit sales volume went down drastically.
