According to the price list of the Council of Murcia for week 17 (from 25 April to 1 May, 2016) published by Ailimpo, Verna lemon prices have gone up by 3 cents compared to the previous week and are sold for between 1.00 and 1.15 Euro per kilo at origin, with an average of 1.08 Euro per kilo.
According to the association, the campaign is in full swing, with a consolidated market at origin, even higher prices in some cases and operations at higher levels whenever the percentage of commercial calibres allows it.
This is keeping the tension in the sales market, with limited supply that favours the sale of Verna lemons, even though it remains difficult to recover the prices paid at origin.
At the same time, the sector has its eye on the arrival of the first batches from the southern hemisphere to the European Union, although the transition is expected to take place without major difficulties.
Low, but stable prices for grapefruit
At present, Florida grapefruit is in liquidation, but despite the low prices, there are still some stocks left. The final batches from Israel, Spain and Turkey are also being sold and prices are stable.
The Corsica campaign is at its peak, with good prices that have met the initial prospects. The arrival of the first grapefruit from South Africa is expected for week 19, although there won't be a regular supply until weeks 21/22.
