CFDA notified the information of food safety supervision and sampling inspection in the 1st quarter of 2016

On May 10th, CFDA issued the information of food safety supervision and sampling inspection in the 1st quarter of 2016, and total qualified rate of various kinds of food samples was 97.3%. Thereinto, qualified rate of mass daily consumer goods including grain, oil, meat, egg and milk, etc. was higher than the average. Primary causes of unqualified products included uses of food additives beyond the range and limit, microbial contamination, unqualified quality indices and pesticide & veterinary drug residues.

Mead Johnson has claimed that the upcoming ultra-high-end milk powder “Enfinitas” was specific for Chinese babies. However, very shortly after it claimed that “Enfinitas” had been listed in the US, named as “ENSPIRE”, and acquired FDA filing. The scientificalness of MFGM added in the product was questioned, and regarded as conceptual speculation, without authority basis in functionality and safety using amount. A journalist did not find notification of FDA about safety using amount of MFGM and the functionality of making the brain more sensitive. While Mead claimed that MFGM was scientifically an important nutrient for the development of the nervous system, and cognitive competence of babies was promoted at the age of one after MFGM supplement. For the query, Mead responded that “Enfinitas” met provisions of Chinese laws & regulations and standards; MFGM existed in milk, easy to loss in processing, while the content of MFGM key ingredients reached the effect level of scientific validation.

Uni-President Enterprise transferred shares of Jinmailang by 1.3 billion, meaning another end of alliance of Jinmailang

On May 9th, a listed Uni-President Enterprise claimed that it had transferred shares of Jinmailang to ConsistentReturns Pte.Ltd. by 1.3 billion, and President would not hold stock rights of Jimailang. This is the second abandonment of Jinmailang by joint venture partner within half a year. At the end of last year, Jinmailang was the receiver when its shares were sold by Nissin. In the industry view, this is because cooperative partners did not want to collaborate with Jinmailang in low and medium-end markets.

Xi’an: Vomiting and nausea in a University

On May 11th, some students of Xi'an Fanyi University went to the school clinic for vomiting and nausea. Some sufferers suspected cold noodles of school canteen, while others claimed that the discomfort was caused by flammulina velutipes.
